We were playing tourists in Cairns for a few days to alleviate the stir-craziness that has set in, and took a helicopter ride over the Barrier Reef and a hot-air balloon ride over the Tablelands of Queensland.  No, those are not the fashion crime of fannypacks. Those are our lifejackets in a convenient foldaway pouch.  Barron Falls  Green Island  A boat full of sea-sick Japanese tourists that probably wished they had taken the helicopter instead.  A sand cay in the Reef.  A momentary landing on the cay for perspective.  Part of the Great Barrier Reef  Getting the balloon ready for the sunrise launch.  The tablelands of Queensland. It was an extremely peaceful morning spent at 2000 feet above the ground. |
